K-Kids
K-Kids is a service organization for elementary school students. Any 2nd or 3rd grade student interested in service to school and community is eligible to join. The Mandeville Northshore Kiwanis Club serves as the K-Kids club sponsoring organization. Mrs. Cangiamilla and Mrs. Dumas will act as the K-Kids faculty advisors along with a committee of teachers and will be in attendance at all K-Kids meetings. Activity meetings will be conducted bi-monthly on Wednesday.

All meetings will be after school from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. Parents will need to make arrangements to pick up K-Kids participants in car line, as bus service will not be provided following our meetings. Parents will NOT be allowed to walk up and pick up their child for safety reasons. We will follow regular car line rules when dismissing K-Kids.
The objectives of K-Kids are:
- To provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community.
- To develop leadership potential.
- To foster development of a strong moral character.
- To encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation.
A permission slip will be sent home the week before the meeting. This permission slip must be signed and returned by the meeting day. Only students with signed permission slips will be allowed to stay after school for the meeting. Parents will NOT be called on the day of the meeting.
K-Kids Club members are required to pay the $15 dues. Dues pay for a shirt, snacks, crafts, and all supplies needed for meetings. If you would like to join K-Kids, please fill out and return the order form sent home in 1st day paperwork with payment by Friday, August 23rd. Payments should be made online via MyPaymentsPlus.

Parents of interested students are asked to complete and return the form sent home in 1st day paperwork to the school office by Friday, August 23rd. Ambassadors
Each nine weeks homeroom teachers pick a student to represent their class as an Ambassador. The Ambassador is the student voice for their classroom. The students chosen each nine weeks will participate in two afternoon leadership training workshops and one afternoon workshop with a guest speaker. Reminders and permission slips for these meetings will be sent home with ambassadors.

Maggie Managers
Maggie Managers are chosen each nine weeks. Students can apply for school-wide jobs each nine weeks. Applications are available on the Maggie Manager board by the cafeteria. If chosen they will participate in a training and do their job.
Flag Team - raises the flag in the morning and/or the afternoon.
Cafeteria Assistant – During lunch help with the picking up of utensils
Habit Boards – Help Mrs. Jordan update our habit boards and select habits to highlight.
Morning Announcer-
• Pledge Announcer- greets the school and leads the pledge
• Lunch Announcer – in morning announcements say what is for lunch and breakfast
• Daily Motivator– announces motivational thoughts, fun facts, daily habits and jokes
• Weather Announcer – Check the weather and give weather updates and decide on inside or outside recess.
Afternoon Announcer – Dismissal of car and bus line
Hallway Monitor – Students in hallways in AM and PM greeting everyone, showing Maggie friends & visitors where to go, and encouraging safe behavior.
Recess Monitor – Helping to pick up recess equipment, blowing up balls when needed, and reporting any equipment broken or needing repair.
Newsletter Author – Writing a student spotlight in our monthly newsletter
Morning Meeting Set up – Set up for morning meeting on Fridays; help with chairs, microphone etc.
Bus Safety Committee- promote school bus safety; educate students about bus safety rules
Student Lighthouse Team
Student Lighthouse Team are members chosen by administration. Students on the Lighthouse Team serve for the entire year. Lighthouse members give school tours and are called captains. We have a total of 18 Student Lighthouse members (2 Flag Captains, 2 Broadcast Captains, 2 Publicity Captains, 2 Maintenance Captains, 2 Community Captains, and 8 Mansion Captains).

YAP - Youth and Pets
YAP, Youth and Pets, is a service organization for elementary school students. Any 2nd or 3rd grade student interested in service to school and learning about animals is eligible to join.
The YAP Club follows the BARK philosophy, “Be Aware, Respectful, and Kind.” Students and sponsors will meet during the school year. Mrs. Valentin, Mrs. Dumas, Mrs. Ownby, and Mrs. Ortiz will act as the YAP faculty advisors and will be in attendance at all meetings. Activity meetings will be conducted bi-monthly. Our meeting dates will be on THURSDAY afternoons: September 19th, October 17th, January 23rd, and March 27th. We will also have some community outreach days. More information will be sent about those in the future.
